One lesson I’ve learned about design in the past week: the designer is her own worst client. I am finding that designing my own web site is an impossible challenge, made endlessly more difficult by the ease with which I can change my mind. So, naturally, I’ve come up with another color scheme, one I think I prefer now that I have it in my head that I want to use a wood background.

I’m obsessed with wood backgrounds. It’s a problem, really. And since this is my personal web site, why shouldn’t I use one?

So I made some changes, as you can see:

I love the contrast of this color scheme. While the blue, green and pink scheme I cooked up in a previous post is pretty, and the colors all work as a lovely, harmonious medley, I think the blue and yellow are more interesting together, and they’ll work well on the wood background I have in mind.

I imagine I’ll suffer a number of other panicked “but what about these colors” moments, but I’m going to do my best to stick to this color scheme. I’ve already started toying with the code for the site, and I’m pleased with the direction I’m moving in, so we’ll see what happens.
